A couple of days ago I was talking with One the residents here in Hazard, KY and he was just stopping by to see how we were doing. This man is one of the most generous people I have run into here. Both his sister-in-law and brother had major damage to their homes and are living with him, but he continues to ask us what we need and offers his help any time we need it.
He has been in this community forever and is very well connected in the community. So, he stopped by and wanted to share something with us. He went on to say he was reading a couple of verses in the Bible, where it talks about Jesus sending out 72 people to go before him, two by two. The story he was speaking of is in Luke 10 and Jesus sends out the people in pairs to go before him to place he was going to go. He tells them go in peace and gave instruction how to go.
This man said, “I was thinking after reading that, y’all are like the disciples. Jesus sent you out to Hazard, KY and you could be anywhere else then here, but you came. Y’all are helping more people than you know, people are talking about y’all and the good you are doing, not just the church people.” He kept repeating “y’all are just like the disciples, you are doing more than you know and I just wanted to share that with you.” We continue to work and sometimes we see the good but sometimes we wonder how much good we are doing. We don’t do what we do to be notice or get a pat on the back, but this was so encouraging to our team. Please continue to pray for our team here in Hazard, KY. Pray for more team to head our way to help as well.
Our Crisis Response team prays – Matt.9:38 – “therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
We need more laborers because the harvest is plentiful. Would you be willing to be a laborer and bring a team to Kentucky or one our other response sites?
